Web site background

This prayer project started in 1996-97 by sharing prayers electronically using geo cities web sites. Panchanga program for NZ and some documents were used by auckland Murugan temple group, during 1997.
GeoCities was created by David Bohnett‎ and John Rezner in 1994.
There were font and display issues and UNICODE was in earlier stages of development. Now browser support for Indian languages is very good. Starting with few slokas/prayers, over time, many documents were added to this web site. For last 20 years, these prayer pages were hosted on dedicated private server.

Sloka Meanings

For many slokas, meaning in English is included. Meaning of Tamil Words also change over time. Some originals are in other languages like Mythili, telugu etc. Ancient Sanskirit/Tamil is different from current ones.

The Amarakosha is a thesaurus in Sanskrit written by the ancient Indian scholar Amarasimha. Amarasimha is said to have been one of the Navaratnas ("nine gems") at the court of Vikramaditya around 400CE. The author himself mentions 18 prior works, but they have all been lost. This contains names of Gods/deities
